Scary Witchy Finger Cookies

INGREDIENTS

  • Cake flour
  • 100g Castor sugar (you can use normal sugar if you don’t have castor sugar
  • 200g Butter, softened (not microwaved!)
  • 1 Egg
  • Almond flakes
  • Red berry jam
  • Makes 30 cookies
  • 2hrs incl resting time
  • Super mega easy

DIRECTIONS

  1. Place the flour and sugar in a large bowl and add the butter. Work it into the flour with your fingertips until you have a mix resembling fine crumbs.
  2. Add the egg and mix the dough until it comes together.
  3. Place the dough in your fridge to rest for 1 hour.
  4. In the meanwhile, preheat the oven to 180C
  5. Remove dough from the fridge and break off just enough to shape it into a finger. Using a knife, make small imprints to resemble wrinkles of the knuckles. Place an almond sliver on top end of the finger to create a nail.
  6. Repeat until you have run out of energy to make witchy fingers.
  7. Place fingers on a greased tray and bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Once baked, let cool. Now dip the base of the fingers into the berry jam to create a look of blood.
  9. Let the jam set for a few minutes and then tuck into what will most probably be the weirdest cookie you will ever eat.
  • Sometimes the nails come off but you can simply stick them back on by using the berry jam as glue.
  • This dough is wonderful for cookie making. Roll it out into all shapes and sizes.
  • I like to add cinnamon and orange to the dough for a seriously yummy twist!
